But alas, in pretty much every "sum is greater than the parts" or whatever (Rogers/Gilmour solo vs. Floyd, Page/Plant solo vs. Zep, Keith/Mick solo vs. Stones, etc.) situation, Rich's solo stuff has the foundation for great songs but mediocre at best singing and (to the limited extent I can decipher) lyrics, while CR solo has (at times) good singing and lyrics but not-so-great music, unless you really like "circus music," as my wife described Phosphoresent Harvest (other than the two slow jams and "Badlands, Here We Come," all three of which I think are really great songs).
A friend of mine like's Rich's more-recent solo albums even more than Paper, I know I should at least check them out, I just got tired of listening to Paper because the songs all sort of sound the same (except for a couple that kind of got into a Mother Hips-type groove).
I just feel bad for Rich, Chris certainly seems to be loving what he's doing (even if I personally have a hard time getting really into it), while Rich just seems to be drifting from one thing to another, seemingly lost without the Crowes.
