I'm happy. 10 years ago, if you had told me that Rich and Marc would be playing together and "in a good place" with each other, I would not have believed it. Those two belong together maybe even more than Chris and Rich (who, were they not brothers, would probably not have chosen to work with each other).

I'm also glad that, except for Ed, everyone in the core of that band seems pretty happy with what they are doing now. Steve seems to have found a good balance between music and broadcasting, Marc and Rich are doing their thing together (and with Sven!) and being a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts, Chris is tripping balls and chasing the ghosts of Jerry and Pig Pen on the west coast. Even our long lost Johnny Colt is doin' it with another fractured southern band, Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Everyone got a happy ending so far, including the fans.

: So .net happy with the Magpie Salute, right? We have traditionally been the hardest to please when it comes to all things Crowes.

: I'm very happy with it. I would certainly have "traded" Luther/Chris "Old Timey Western lyrics" Robinson/Adam McD for Marc Fucking Ford/John Hogg/Old Weird Ed every day of the week. Now having heard Hogg sing Crowes songs, I don't think it's much of a step down from CR. I think he's a better live vocalist than Chris is now.

: I am still really bummed that Ed didn't live on to be a part of this, because he really deserved at least one last chance to experience the love that MS fans have been showering Marc with. At least we've got his beautiful playing on the MS album.
