Life is getting in the way of a real close listen of the album all the way through but i think this was by design. This is far from a lead singer focused effort, and I think the idea was not to create a guitar hero platform for Marc or Rich. There is plenty of space in these songs for face melting live.
I am the kind of Crowes fan who never saw them live post reunion, did not pick up any of the late era albums aside from Warpaint but have seen Ford solo 7 times since the early 00's which is an accomplishment on the East coast....
That said Walk on Water blows me away. Is he writing of his own religious awakening? The passing of Eddie? I find it really powerful.
Does anyone else think the last note on Mary the Gypsy is a tribute to Eddie?
I expected to see some Rich & Marc cowriting but was surprised every colab was including Hogg....
