Is when HWII comes out, to get a feel for how they orchestrated each set of songs in terms of how they released them on which album and the song orders. In other words, was there any rhyme or reason with how they put together each albums' songs and will the personality of HWII be similar or completely different based on the songs chosen for each album?
I've already mentioned this, as I feel Mary the Gypsy is my least favorite, and I guess it's sort of good to get out of the way, but I can't help but thinking that Send Me An Omen would have worked perfectly as the opener, immediately with that classic descending chord riff from Rich, reeling in the listener.
I like how each song immediately channels the artists they've borrowed from throughout the years, but they also make it their own. That's the classic Crowes recipe there, IMO. Borrow from the icionic artists and bands, but put that stamp on it that allows it to sit on its own two feet, too.
I listened to the album probably 20 or so times the first week and I've put it down and will go back to here it again, but yeah, good comeback for the Rich/Marc duo, but hopefully there are some co-writing songs on HWII, too.
Minor complaint: No complimentary MP3 for the vinyl?
