I seem to remember hearing that it was originally supposed to be one of their really rare gems, maybe it was "Low Down," the alternative version of Ballad. But when it was decided that Ed was going to get kicked out of the band after that show, Chris changed it to Space Captain in Ed's "honor."
I think it was Low Down, but I could be mis-remembering that...it was a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away from our current reality.
