If Jimmy was conveying the details of his encounter with Rich accurately, I don't think Page's offers were too encroaching. He suggested producing a track, playing a solo, or maybe writing some songs. It's not like he was trying to join the band or shove Aleister Crowley totems up their asses.

Page was 55 or 56 at the time. Of course his best songwriting days were behind him, as is the case for most musicians at that age. But I'd think that there's a difference between Page not writing songs on his own and Page being inspired by kicking around ideas with Chris and Rich. It's not like Lions couldn't use quite a bit of help. Maybe all Lickin' needed (other than different lyrics) was Jimmy screeching a bow across his guitar while Rich was working the pickup switch like Jenna Jameson's clit.

I think what Steve was most outraged by wasn't the cancelled tour or the missed opportunity for a theremin solo on Ozone Baby. He was pissed that Rich knew exactly why Page quit and didn't say anything. IMO.
