The most interesting thing that I heard Steve say was along the lines of "We're not property of our fans. Hell, Rick Rubin literally owned us and we didn't listen to him." Fair point - if you start from the assumption that the band feels they are beholden to no one but themselves (and maybe not even each other!), a lot things start making more sense. I don't get the idea that the Robinsons and Gorman are big planners when it come to their Crowes career - they just do whatever they feel like doing at that point in time. I think Steve kind of says as much in that podcast, too.
That was a really good listen, I thought.
: He'll tell you how he feels about things, that's for sure. lol
: On one hand, I do get the BCs' attitude of "Hey, this is how we are doing things now. We're happy with that and we hope you like it." It is somewhat in keeping with their (non-BYS era) traditions. But on the other, I think that could be used to justify a lazier, mail it in approach. (That's not my attitude about their current incarnation. I haven't seen them yet, so can't comment on it.)
: I don't get how Soul Singing has caught on like it has. Makes no damn sense to me.
